چکیده

Ruthenium complexes with tetradentate PNNP donor ligands demonstrate a marked change in selectivity compared to analogous bis bidentate PN Guerbet catalysis, producing mixtures of n-butanol (17 %), sec-butanol (14 %) and ethyl acetate (66 rather than the usual 90 %+ n-butanol. Tridentate PNP ruthenium such as [Ru(H)(Cl)(CO)(Ph2PCH2CH2NHCH2CH2PPh2)] also produce and, optimized conditions (120 °C, 10 mol% NaOEt base), achieve 71 % this butanol isomer. The same tri- are efficient catalysts for conversion methanol/ethanol isobutanol (up 97 selectivity). In way, judicious choice ligand within general catalyst family allows three isomers interest fuel molecules.

A novel pathway to produce butanol and isobutanol in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

BACKGROUND The sustainable production of biofuels remains one of the major issues of the upcoming years. Among the number of most desirable molecules to be produced, butanol and isobutanol deserve a prominent place. They have superior liquid-fuel features in respect to ethanol. Particularly, butanol has similar properties to gasoline and thus it has the potential to be used as a substitute for ...

Potential energy surfaces for small alcohol dimers. II. Propanol, isopropanol, t-butanol, and sec-butanol.

Potential energy landscapes for homogeneous dimers of propanol, isopropanol, tert-butanol, and sec-butanol were obtained using 735 counterpoise-corrected energies at the MP2/6-311+G(2df,2pd) level. The landscapes were sampled at 15 dimer separation distances for different relative monomer geometries, or routes, given in terms of the yaw, pitch, and roll of one monomer relative to the other and ...

Improving Butanol Fermentation To Enter the Advanced Biofuel Market

1-Butanol is a large-volume, intermediate chemical with favorable physical and chemical properties for blending with or directly substituting for gasoline. The per-volume value of butanol, as a chemical, is sufficient for investing into the recommercialization of the classical acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) (E. M. Green, Curr. Opin. Biotechnol. 22:337-343, 2011) fermentation process. Furthermore...

Comparison between odor thresholds for phenyl ethyl alcohol and butanol.

UNLABELLED Aim of the study was to compare results of odor threshold test using different numbers of dilution steps, separately for butanol and phenyl ethyl alcohol (PEA). METHODS A total of 116 subjects participated (29 patients with olfactory dysfunction and 87 normosmic subjects). The olfactory threshold for butanol and PEA was examined with 8 (wide step method) and 16 (narrow step method)...

A Comparison of the Microbial Production and Combustion Characteristics of Three Alcohol Biofuels: Ethanol, 1-Butanol, and 1-Octanol

Over the last decade, microbes have been engineered for the manufacture of a variety of biofuels. Saturated linear-chain alcohols have great potential as transport biofuels. Their hydrocarbon backbones, as well as oxygenated content, confer combustive properties that make it suitable for use in internal combustion engines. Herein, we compared the microbial production and combustion characterist...
